The "Red Hat" of Legal AI
Sovrant operates as the "Red Hat" of the artificial intelligence sector by providing localized hardware orchestration paired with containerized software deployment. We deliver the institutional assurance, edge-compute security, and operational stability required to deploy enterprise-grade AI within heavily regulated environments.
Firms should own the systems that encode their judgment.
The rapid maturation of generative artificial intelligence is bottlenecked by acute data privacy constraints and the unpredictable nature of cloud-based inference. Sovrant bridges this gap with private infrastructure built around the firm's responsibilities.
Absolute Data Residency
Localized edge-compute environments guarantee absolute data residency, ensuring proprietary enterprise data never traverses the public internet. This architecture is engineered to satisfy the extreme confidentiality mandates of American Bar Association (ABA) Model Rule 1.6.
Massive RAG System
Our platform features a comprehensive Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system for case management. It powers discovery by generating Special Interrogatories, Form Interrogatories, Requests for Production, and Requests for Admission. The system includes a layer to verify allowed information based on phrasing, prioritizing non-disclosure to protect client data.
Timekeeping & Communications
The platform automates timekeeping by scanning document inputs and applying uploaded internal or local billing rules to calculate estimates. It also automates client communications with case updates based on customer-provided templates, referencing court schedules and document due dates to predict next steps.
Eliminating Hallucinations
General-purpose models hallucinate at alarmingly high rates during complex legal synthesis. By integrating domain-specific RAG capabilities grounded strictly in a verified, localized database of precedents, Sovrant virtually eliminates the introduction of net-new hallucinations.
Legal, technical, and operational depth.
The team combines legal workflow knowledge, systems architecture, enterprise go-to-market strategy, and capital formation experience.
Joshua Smith
Joshua founded Flipp9 to address data privacy and consistency gaps in legal AI by selling locally deployed containerized AI. Previously, as an Associate Law Clerk at Poliquin & DeGrave LLP, he managed all stages of litigation for medical malpractice claims and optimized internal processes using AI. He earned his J.D. from Regent Law School in 2025 and a B.A. in Philosophy from Purdue University.
Liam Tietjens
Liam is an enterprise software and systems architecture specialist. He is focused on containerized agents, deterministic workflows, verifiable models, and compliant private deployment.
Tommy Thornton
Tommy is the CEO of Automates, bringing managed-service deployment experience, B2B channel strategy, rollout operations, and infrastructure continuity for law firms.
Kelly O'Neill
Kelly brings over 20 years of enterprise go-to-market experience, having personally closed over $250M in enterprise clients and built commercial teams from the ground up. She specializes in translating technically complex AI and emerging technology capabilities into enterprise-grade commercial narratives. She holds an M.S. in Technology Management from the University of Denver.
Bring us the workflow that matters.
We will help determine whether it belongs in an approved tool, a private agent, or a firm-owned intelligence architecture.
